Purchasing Information
There are so many variables in each house log order that we do not stock many items. After we receive a signed purchase order and down payment, the mill begins to acquire and then process the logs needed to fill the order. Contact us to discuss your project or to place an order.
Logs are cut from native yellow pine timber. After reaching the mill, logs are sawn close to the finished profile. If a hand peeled surface is ordered, the bark is removed by hand with draw knives. Logs are then placed in a dry kiln to reduce their moisture content. Dried logs are run through a surfacing machine which accurately shapes the profile for uniform stack height. It also planes the third side of logs so ordered. Each finished log is carefully inspected. Logs not suitable for log home construction are culled out. Only the best logs are sent to your site.
Normally, we have orders ready to deliver within 8 weeks depending on the profile of log and size of the order. Deliveries can be made to the construction site if the lane to the site is stable and allows easy passage of the delivery truck. Full payment must be paid by cashiers check to the delivery driver before the material can be unloaded. Arrangements must be made by the customer to provide a reach machine to unload the delivery truck. Freight services allow a block of time beginning at arrival to remove the load. The customer is responsible for additional delivery charges due to delays in freight removal, wrecker charges to remove stuck delivery truck, etc.
